Four states in one day!

The fifth day of our trip started with starbucks blackcurrant frappuccino's in Tallahassee, where we then headed to New Orleans. It was exciting day for us, since it was first day we needed to change states and in the end we got be in 4 different states on that day! So we started driving towards New Orleans, Lousiana and the first stop was then on Alabama border line.

We of course had to jump out from the car to take some pictures of the welcome sign in there and from there we also found a cute bar called florabama, where we wen't in to get drinks! It didin't look that big from outside, but there was two floors and it was huge from inside.

There was also a very beautiful beach where you could access straight from the bar.

We had also looked up that on our way there would be Bellingrath garden and home, which was in a small town called Mobile. The gardens had started to develop in 1927 and it was owned by Walter and Bessie Bellingrath. Walter Bellingrath had been Mobile's first Coca-Cola bottler and their garden became a popular place to go and admire the flowers. It surely was a beautiful place still. Lot of colourful flower settings and fountains.

After that we headed to New Orleans and went through Mississippi on the way. Didin't stop at Missisippi more than to take a picture of the welcome sign again.

We counted that we would be going through 14 states and we want to take a picture of every welcome sign on our trip.
The thing though that I'm really looking for is to see how and when the landscape will start to change more. It is still pretty green at least here in Lousiana.

So we arrived to New Orleans on evening and even tough the city was much bigger than we imagined, we found our hostel pretty easyly (even with gps it hasn't always been that easy ;)). It was pretty close to a French quarter and I loved the style of it! It was a small house and the atmosphere was just great.

After we arrived we went to have beers in a close by whiskey bar, which was very cool. It was a small wooden bar with a very cozy bar. There was 23 pages of whiskey's on their menu so we decided to go there on a next day as well to taste some whiskey's. Didin't stay up too late though, so got to woke up early enough to go and explore the French quarter, which was amazing. All of those streets filled with cute little houses and I wanted to just take pictures of all of them! I also love those city's which has a lot music going on the streets, so it was so great to just walk around and listen some jazz while at it. French quarter was also full of small art gallery's which were lovely as well!

Had also time to taste some local treats like gumbo which was like a seafood soup with okra and as a dessert we had beignets which are kind of like small dougnats covered with powdered sugar. Both of those were delicious!

We also met great people in our hostel and ended up having drinks with them on the second night. For me at least meeting new people and sharing experiences is a big part of what I like on my travels. It's kind of like a system, that works perfectly when you work with it! Sharing life stories and ideas, makes you see things in different respective and might also give you inspiration for something. For example I've noticed having some troubles sometimes writing this blog and mostly it is cos I'm kind of still practising on finding the right words to describe something I would usually just say. The other reason would be again trying to analyse it way too much. But one journalist who was staying in our hostel said that he became a good writer when he was working for a magazine where he would only have few hours to finish his writing. So that got me thinking that I should also just write it as feels natural at first! I also started to think, what it is that makes writing so much more difficult way of expressing yourself than talking, but I guess it is that when speaking first of all you can express yourself with so much more than just words, like tones and face expressions, but in writing you only have the words. Also in a text, it's much easier when you have actual words to describe something and not a handful of words that would in the end explain your point. But thankfully you can only get better :)

So continuing our trip from New Orleans to Texas... Excited!
